# Me

I am a *post-disciplinary* scholar, a university lecturer and docent at the [Department of Computer Science](https://cs.helsinki.fi), University of Helsinki, where I lead the [Helsinki Social Computing](https://socialcomputing.helsinki.fi) research group. We bring social science theory together with methods from computer science, and work on:

1. digital and computational methods for social research
2. social and political aspects of computing and human-computer interaction

Conceptually, we draw inspiration from political science, media research and technology-oriented sociology. We use coding, prototyping, user-centred design, and data science approaches in our research. My group and I publish in venues such as ACM CSCW, ACM CHI, New Media & Society and Big Data & Society.

My training spans social science and computing: a master's degree in political science and a PhD in computer science.
